Index of Love and Care

Index of Love and Care is an ongoing body of work developed by Assunta Ruocco in collaboration with her daughter Lou, initiated during the 2020 lockdown.

Working within their shared home-studio, the project explores the intersections of artistic and reproductive labour through a co-working methodology grounded in drawing, digital reproduction, and improvisation. Using Ruocco’s pre-existing sketchbooks and a domestic printer affectionately named Snorfle, the pair developed layered compositions through a series of interventions and exchanges.

The resulting works question authorship, care, and the material conditions that shape creative production. Over time, Index of Love and Care has become a collaborative archive, reflecting shifting dynamics of autonomy, negotiation, and intergenerational making.
